I wonder if it would not be a good idea for youth ministries/college ministries in Protestant churches (at least)to have members read and discuss Richard Niebuhr's "Christ and Culture"? Niebuhr introduces and interacts with five views; Christ against Culture, Christ of Culture, Christ above Culture, Christ and Culture paradox and finally, his recommended, Christ transforms culture. Perhaps the spiritual condition of emerging adults might be energized and they might be encouraged to dig deeper into Scripture (and into Jesus) for answers to tough generational/cultural questions.
Stephen, It would be great if our ministy leaders would read works like "Christ and Culture" as well as more recent works like D.A. Carson's "Christ and Culture Revisited."
